When you don’t know that you don’t know…
One interesting fact about yourself is, you are probably not
the person who knows about you the most. You may (want to) be the best you
there can be, but you may not be the most go to person if someone wants the
most honest opinion about you.
Self-reflection can be the most revealing and truthful
moment of your life. It is not until you have taken good time to reflect on
yourself, your pros and especially your weaknesses that you may be able to be
that best you, you want to be.
BOSI DNA experience…
I took a self-exploration tour this week on the BOSI DNA
website. Answering the questionnaires that would help me determine my DNA made
me realize how different I was from what I thought of myself. And then there
was the MEST monthly review. The honest truth is, if only you will be patient
enough to hear what people think of you or how they see you, you will realize
to your own advantage, the little things you do that make you undesirable or
inefficiently you. I realized to my amazement, how much I ignored the details
of myself that made me who I am.
Writing about someone…
It was not until I wrote about a friend some time ago this
year that I realized how much I knew about her and how little she knew of
herself. Perhaps once in a while we all need someone to describe us to
ourselves.
Watching yourself in a video
Another very revealing way to notice all the little things
that you do is to watch yourself in a video in a scene you think you are the
most comfortable in. Notice how you talk, look around, control the crowd,
stand, smile and all the manners you thought made you the BEST you there was.
So when you don’t know that you really don’t know who you are,
you are really not the most efficient person you are supposed to be and someone
could easily play that role better for you.
